Let Economic Spectrum Unlimited be your virtual Manager, Executive Director or Director of Operations. We have the experience, knowledge and software to provide professional Association Management services to support your organization.

As an association, you may not have the people &/or financial resources to provide a full-time person to manage your organization. We can provide that service seamlessly for a fraction of the cost of hiring a full-time staff member. One of our staff members will be assigned to your association and you can promote that person as your Manager, CEO or Director of Operations.

We have virtual offices with a variety of skill sets. We provide the office and office equipment. Your cost will be aligned with the package you wish.

Our prices range from $20,000 to $75,000 annually depending on the range of services you purchase. Hiring a full-time Manager, CEO or Director of Operations can cost your organization $80,000 or more annually as well as mandatory expenses and other benefits. We can provide the professional service you need without the costs associated with having your own staff member.

Individual or additional services are offered for an hourly rate.  Please discuss your needs with us.

Our Experience

Economic Spectrum Unlimited (ESU) has been operating since 1992 and has worked successfully with hundreds of clients.

Ida Scott, President

  • Ida is a Business Retention and Expansion Professional (BREP) through Business Retention and Expansion International, she has Pubic Administration and Business Administration Certificates from Memorial University and a Diploma in Marketing and International Business from St. Mary’s University.

 

  • In addition to managing and working on all Economic Spectrum Unlimited projects over the years, Ida was manager for a non-profit Economic Development Association, with a board of directors and up to 100 volunteers, for 14 years. During this period, Ida managed the work of the Board of Directors and the Bridgewater Development Association (BDA). She organized Think Tanks, Business Retention and Expansion projects, Celebration of Success events and coordinated the work of Six Action teams, organized an International Conference and lead the Marketing and Promotion for the BDA.

 

  • Ida lead the process of developing and delivering Orientation for new and existing board members and lead the process of creating board governance guidelines and policies. Ida also served on the Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI) board for nine years ending as President Elect for one of those years, President for one year and past President for one year.

 

  • Ida has been a board member of the Women’s Economic Equality Society (WEE) since 1996 and the Women Unlimited (WU) program since 2006. Ida has been President of the board of directors for the WEE Society since 2004 and President of the WU board of directors since 2006.

  • Memorial United Church Group Home for people with disabilities – V. Chair
  • Acadia Centre for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (now Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre), Community Competition Board – Board member
  • South Shore of NS Association of Atlantic Women Business Owners ­– Regional Coordinator

 

Other organizations which Ida was part of:

  • Treasurer and board member of the Bridgewater Façade Society.
  • Member for 6 years on the Planning Review advisory committee (PRAC) for Bridgewater in the process to update the Land Use By-Laws and Municipal Planning Strategy.
  • Member for 4 years of the Downtown Planning Advisory Committee (DPAC).  DPAC oversaw the development and implementation of the Bridgewater Downtown revitalization project.
  • Was a member of the Steering Committee which developed the “Why Here” project and website.
  • Vice Chair of Events Lunenburg County.
  • Core Committee member for Art Happening.
  • Was a Member of the Organizing Committee of the World Sledge Hockey Challenge and Entertainment Chair.
  • A member of the Organizing Committee of the 55+ Games and responsible for Opening and Closing Ceremonies and Entertainment.
  • Secretary and board member of the Bridgewater Marina Association.

 

This hands-on experience has given Ida an expanded understanding of how boards and their team could operate for best results and she is willing to help your organization reach its pinnacle.

 

Peter Scott, Senior Project Manager

Peter has a Bachelor of Management Degree from Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS.  While attending university Peter worked with an Association Management company in Halifax and delivered most of the services offered by ESU. Peter has worked with Economic Spectrum Unlimited in many capacities over the years, most notably in training for business owners and managers.  

During his university days, Peter was a peer tutor for Intro to Accounting and completed Microsoft Office computer training and achieved the designation as Microsoft Office Master (MOM). For 3 years, he was an IT Specialist for a Halifax based Association Management Firm. Peter then worked with Whistler Blackcomb as a Food and Beverage Assistant Manager for ten years. Peter has been responsible for hiring, training and coordinating the work of 200+ people each new season with Whistler Blackcomb’s flagship restaurant, the Roundhouse Lodge, a restaurant providing food and service for as many as 8,000 people a day and has serving as many as 14,000 guests in a single eight-hour day. Peter became recognized for his ability to help build teams, create efficiencies in the workplace, help create budgets and ensure the satisfaction of guests in a world class service environment, while adhering to budgets and profit margin goals and ensuring all facilities were up to standard.

Over the years, Peter has honed his technology skills, which he uses to enhance the work of non-profit organizations. He is a creative writer, excellent motivator in the workplace, excels in creating and delivering training, employee recruitment, staff development and facilitating management planning. In 2018, he was recognized as the 2018 Assistant Manager of the Year in Food and Beverage with Whistler Blackcomb. Peter will share his leadership skills and abilities with clients of ESU. Your organization will be proud to engage Peter as your Manager, CEO or Director of Operations and have his name and work put forward as a leader with your organization.

 

Robin Scott, Senior Project Manager

Robin has a Physical Education Degree from Memorial University.  Robin has delivered personal work/life balance training to association employees and board members. He has recently completed 26 years as Director of Recreation and Special Events Coordinator for the Town of Lunenburg, NS.

Robin has hands on experience with working with Association Boards. For many years he was a board member of the Recreation Facilities Association of Nova Scotia (RFANS), culminating as President of RFANS. He was a Governor for the Youth Bowling Council of Canada and during his university days, he was President of the Physical Education Society. During his 26 years working with the Town of Lunenburg, Robin worked well with the various Mayor’s and Town Council members, which operated in many respects as a non-profit Association Board. Robin served on the Newfoundland mission staff for several Canada Games and as Chef de Mission for the 1985 Canada Games. He was Regional Director of the Canadian Foundation for Ileitis and Colitis, working for a Board of Directors.
